RSG Distributes 23,000 Decoders To LGAs

The Rivers State Government, in partnership with CONSAT, has distributed a total of 23,000 satellite decoders across the 23, local government areas of the state.
Performing the flag off ceremony of the distribution of the satellite decoders, the outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Mrs Cordelia Peterside described the exercise as a major achievement of the Rivers State Government in its effort to avail the people access to effective information.
She said the ministry, in partnership with CONSAT, had earlier embarked on training of about 300 people across the 23 LGAs on the basic installation of  CONSAT decoders.
She said each LGA would receive1,000 decoders and its accessories, and urged the LGAs to train more people for maximum benefit in grassroots utilization.
In his remarks, Director of Public Enlightenment in the ministry, Mr. Paulinus Nsirim charged the local government areas, to make judicious use of the decoders to enable the grassroots benefit from the global digitalization process.
Also speaking, CEO of CONSAT, Mayokun Okunola described the partnership with the Rivers State Government as business relationship that would have multiplier effects in terms of economic development.
He assured that CONSAT would continue to bring out packages that will satisfy the entertainment needs of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the 23 LGAs, Head of Local Government Administration in Emohua Local Government, Comrade Pedro Chindah, thanked the Rivers State Government for its efforts in putting the state at the front burner of digitalization of Information Channels.
He said the LGAs would ensure that the effort is domesticated to achieve desired results.
