The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not tolerate any act of impunity and political propaganda by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and security operatives particularly in the forthcoming elections.
The Rivers State governor, who is also Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organization, further called on the PDP-led government and security operatives to close ranks against insurgency and criminality in the upcoming general elections in the country.
Speaking at the weekend during the party’s state guber campaign rally in Degema and Ikwerre Local Government Areas, the governor sued for a conducive political climate that will allow Nigeria exercise their civic duties by choosing a credible leader.
According to him, “Nigerians are watching the PDP and the police, including other operatives if they will continue with their impunity.  Nigerians want freedom, that is why they are asking for change of leadership in this country.  Our people must vote uninterrupted.  They should be allowed to exercise their civic obligation.
“PDP and the police should stop arresting supporters of APC and keeping them in detention.  We want a conducive atmosphere where our supporters will have freedom to vote and that is the responsibility of all of us, including security operatives.  We don’t need intimidation.  APC is very much prepared for the elections against PDP.  Nigerians are poised and ready to vote,” Amaechi said.
Amaechi also congratulated some PDP governors and supporters who have willingly defected to APC, assuring that, if they vote for APC to win in the general elections, their contributions for a better Nigeria will be remembered.
On his part, the APC guber candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside assured the people of Degema of adequate security as well as youths and women empowerment, and promised to complete all on-going projects in Degema started by the Amaechi-led administration.
At Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Dakuku recounted the achievements of Amaechi, specifically on internal roads construction, model primary and health care system, including the Greater Port Harcourt City which has opened up opportunities for businesses and homes for Nigerians.
