Even as Nigerians con
tinue to condemn Tuesday’s  distruption of the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okrika, the Rivers State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),Mr. Ibiba Walter has attributed the attacks to the internal wranglings within the APC and the rain of abuses by the APC against the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
Walter who stated this on a live interview programme, ‘’Sunrise’ by Channels Television, said the people of Okrika have vowed not to allow anybody ridicule the, First Lady and her husband, president Jonathan irrespective of party afflictions.
He urged the APC to look inward and stop casting blames on  the PDP, noting that there are some APC members who are not happy that, Dame Jonathan and the President were constantly abused by their party.
Dame Jonathan is from Okrika area of Rivers State.
The PDP Secretary who is also from Okrika, said he was ready for any investigation by the police, and  would submit himself to the police if he is called upon. He, however,  said he cannot speak for Hon Evans Bipi who was allegedly accused of  leading thugs to carry out the attacks.
According to him, there are sympathizers of  Dame Jonathan and  President Jonathan who are not happy with their party’s criticisms of  Dame Jonathan and her husband and would want to vote for the president.
He expressed worries over the continued spate of violence in the state, urging both political parties in the state to exercise cautions and advised their supporters to ensure violence-free elections in the state.
According to him, the peace pact signed among the presidential candidates has a guarantee because, the United States of America came up with a stand to sanction any politician who flakes the accord by denying such person visa to the US.
Quaker in a programme on channels Television said, “But in the state, we cannot enforce it. There is not commitment or binding that would make these politicians to adhere to the peace accord they signed. Without enforcement, I doubt if the authors will want to play by the rules’’, he said
