The National Union of
Electricity Employees (NUEE) has promised that it would not relent in the effort to bolster  its investment  drive in order to improve member’s welfare.
In a statement released by the union in Lagos on Friday and signed by its Secretary-General, Comrade Joe Ajaero the union said its asset has grown progressively  due to the association’s investment in hospitality business and high  net worth concerns which has yielded considerable interests for the union.
Ajaero said the union presently has  assets worth N1.5 billion due to prudent  management by the union’s leadership, stressing that the union is still further exploring new  potential areas to invest on behalf of its members.
He called on organised labour and civil society organizations in the country to invest in human capacity building to advance  their position and interest  while engaging with employers and government.
He said if given  the opportunity to serve Nigeria Labour Congress  (NLC) in the forthcoming delegates conference we would replicate the transformation  in NUEE under his leadership at the NLC.
Ajaero said NLC under his leadership would consider investment in schools, hotels and other businesses with a view to reducing the spate of unemployment in the country.
He promised to strengthen the budgetary process of the NLC if he emerges as the new helmsman of the congress with a view to further creating the needed value to workers and the Labour Centre.
He said NLC would address the issue of casualisation so that the congress could have  the strength to fight bad labour practices and entrench a system where  labour matter would be given priority consideration  by labour employers and government.
