Keshi, Two Others Shortlisted For Burkina Job
The Burkinabe Football
Association (FBF) has announced a three-candidate shortlist for the replacement of Paul Put at the head of the Stallions this week.
“The names of French-German Gernot Rohr, Serbian Milovan Rajevac and Nigerian Stephen Keshi have been selected by the Commission,” FBF officially announced.
“The final choice for the national head coach will be made within a maximum of 3 weeks after the three candidates have been interviewed,” the national association added.
A former coach of Gabon and Niger, Rohr led the Panthers to the quarter finals of the 2012 AFCON on home soil before failing to get the Mena through to the knock-out stage of the 2013 edition.
Milovan Rajevac earned African fame at the head of Ghana, qualifying the Black Stars to the final of the 2010 AFCON before sealing a quarter-finals spot at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa a few months later.
While Stephen Keshi led Nigeria to continental glory at the 2013 AFCON, before reaching the knock-out stage of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 with the Super Eagles.
Burkina Faso head coach Paul Put, who guided the Stallions all the way to the final of the continental showpiece in 2013, was fired in the aftermaths of their disappointing first round exit in Equatorial Guinea a few weeks ago.
