A Personal Assistant to
President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Patrick Ogba, has dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the Federal Government under the watch of a South-South persons had not done any project for the Niger Delta region.
Mr Ogba who spoke to The Tide Aviation correspondent at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, Thursday said the people of the Niger Delta are enjoying steady supply of petroleum products and good road network from Akwa Ibom to Rivers and Bayelsa States.
He noted that the Freedom of Information (FOI) law was made possible by the president to enhance freedom of speech, while there have been an improvement in power supply. He added that the implementation of local content law that has given indigenes of the area the opportunity to own oil blocs and run oil and gas businesses was made possible by Jonathan.
On the postponement of election, the president’s aide said the clamour by many Nigerians to have their permanent voters cards (PVCs) coupled with the security situation in some parts of the country necessitated the poll shift.
According to him, “anybody who has not collected his/her PVC will not be happy and it would be quite unfair to disqualify them from voting for candidates of their choice.
“Today people say I want my vote to count, we should be patient with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow others have their PVCs”.
He insisted that the postponement of the election for six weeks was in the overall interest of the nation, especially as  it would not affect the electoral Act and the hand over date.
He lauded the people of the South-South for the massive turn-out the president’s campaign team enjoyed particularly in Bayelsa State.
Mr Ogba advised Nigerians to imbibe the democratic culture of give and take, fairness, and Justice where emphasizes are on the people to have their say in all issues.
