Intensify Publicity For Lagos Games – Coach
A Lagos-based handball
coach, Adeniyi Adesoji on Wednesday, advised the organisers of Lagos State Secondary Schools Sports Festival, tagged, “Ibile Games’’, to intensify publicity in subsequent editions.
Adesoji told newsmen in Lagos that publicising the Games widely would help to attract more schools to participate.
He applauded the Lagos State Government for opening up the just-concluded edition to private and public schools which, according to him, made the fiesta spectacular.
“Publicity is fundamental; we have hundreds of schools in Lagos that are not part of the Games because they are not aware because of poor publicity.
“The principal reason for the festival is to identify raw talents in their prime, but we must be committed to avenues that will get schools informed and it must be early enough.
“Such information will wake the schools to prepare their athletes for the Games and provide them with necessary kits among others.
“However I must commend the state for its continuous effort to develop sports at the grassroots.
“These Games will go a long way to bring harmony among schools in Lagos State,’’ he said.
The coach said that sports like traditional should also be considered and introduced into the festival to make the competition comprehensive and increase the number of athletes participating in them.
Adesoji applauded schools that participated at the handball event for adequately kitting their players which, he said, made them to standout and good looking during the competition.
The Games held from January 26 to February 6.
