Imoke Commissions N400m Obudu Ranch Electrification Project

As part of efforts to
boost the electricity infrastructure for enhanced quality service delivery at the Obudu Ranch Resort, Cross River State governor, Senator Liyel, has commissioned a 33/11KV Sub-station electricity project which connects the Ranch Resort to the National Grid.
The Obudu Ranch Resort has been operating on a generating set since its inception in the1970s.
Commissioning the project during the PDP governorship campaign rally in Obanliku local government area, Imoke said the effort was aimed at totally removing the cost of running the Ranch facilities on generator.
Governor Imoke said the commissioning of the sub-station which is valued at over N400 million, would boost and enhance the economy of the Resort and take it to the next level.
He described the project as “a boost to the economic policy thrust of the state thereby taking the facility to the next level.”
Lauding the initiative, the governor explained that, “This modest effort will ensure that power to the facility will increase tremendously while services will improve to meet the needs of its customers because currently, a huge sum is spent on diesel to operate its facilities including the cable cars.”
Governor Imoke restated his administration’s policy to take government to those that need it most which also includes the ranch’s host community, no matter how remote.
According to him, “as power improves, both services at the resort and host community’s business and lifestyle will also improve.”
Imoke also added that with the commissioning, the state has shown its interest in developing and adding value to it’s tourism offering.
Governor was accompanied on the tour by his deputy, Barrister Efiok Cobam, PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Ben Ayade, his running mate Prof. Ivara Esu, the state party Chairman, Ntufam John Okon and other party stalwarts.
Our correspondent reports that Imoke also commissioned other electrification projects at Anyikang, Bekwarra local government area, Inyima community in Yakurr local government area as well as inspected some road projects in Obanliku and Obudu local government areas of the state.
