Imo Govt Warns Against Illegal Fumigation

retary,  Imo State Ministry of Health Dr Jonny Ihebereme has warned against illegal fumigation by unauthorised persons
Ihebereme who spoke in an interview with newsmen in Owerri, said anybody caught would face the wrath of the law.
“I have observed that many people are into the business of fumigating their environment, but I want to say that many of such people do not have government’s approval.
“This ministry will begin to stop such people and bring them to book,” he said.
According to Ihebereme, illegal fumigation can cause an outbreak of dangerous epidemic, and “ our children may become the most venerable.
“Nobody is safe when the environment is polluted with toxic and chemical substances, but our children are the most venerable group,” he said.
He said that those who were allowed to carry out such activities should be qualified persons from government agencies or anybody certified by the Ministry of Environment.
Ihebereme urged Imo people not to engage the services of unqualified persons to fumigate their environment.
