GPHCDA Denies Selective Handling Of Land Titles

The Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority has denied allegation of bias in the handling of application for Certificate of Occupancy and title deeds in the area.
The Administrator of the Authority, Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam, who said this in a release made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt also said that the authority would resist being dragged into the murky waters of politics in the discharge of its duties.
Cookey-Gam, who was reacting to alleged denial of certificate and title deed to the Omega Power Ministries (OPM), also described as frivolous, allegation of discrimination and partiality being leveled against the authority.
“Our attention has been drawn to the recent news item in some print and electronic medium in respect of the denial of the granting of certificate of title deed popularly referred to as C of O to the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) by the Rivers State Government. While we like to steer clear of politics because as an authority, we are aware of our responsibility to serve the interest of all citizens of Rivers State, non-indigenes, private, local, national and international stakeholders, irrespective of gender, creed, race, ethnic and other backgrounds”, she said.
According to the authority, the alleged case of discrimination and partiality does not hold water in the conduct of statutory and professional duties to diversified stakeholders.
“We will therefore like to correct the impression that the authority, as an agency of the Rivers State Government, was selective in the handling of the application of the Omega Power Ministries”, she said.
