Enugu Govt Awards Scholarship To 38 Primary School Pupils
The Enugu State Govern
ment has announced the award of scholarship to 38 pupils of Inland Primary School, Imiliki-Enu in Udenu Local Government Area.
The award was sequel to what the government described as “excellent performance’’ of the children who performed a musical show at Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) grand finale of gubernatorial and National Assembly campaign in Udenu.
The state Governor, Sullivan Chime, who announced the award at the campaign ground also instantly promoted five teachers of the school who groomed the children for the performance.
Chime also said that the headmaster of the school would be duly compensated by the state government.
He said that the outstanding outing of the school in the musical display was in tandem with the focus of PDP-led government in the country.
The governor expressed confidence in the governorship candidature of Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and urged the people of the state to support PDP to deliver more dividends of democracy to them.
“We will give these children scholarship for this outstanding performance. This scholarship will last from now to their university level,’’ he declared.
Addressing the people, the gubernatorial candidate assured that the people of the state would enjoy the fruit of their support to the party, if elected.
Ugwuanyi, who hails from Udenu local government area, said that his administration would consolidate on developments recorded by the present administration, if elected.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, announced that traditional rulers in the state had pledged their support for candidates of the PDP in all the elections.
Asogwa reiterated the commitment of PDP members toward ensuring the success of the party in the state.
Earlier, Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Mr Amechi Odo, had commended the state government and PDP for the chance given to the area to produce the governorship candidate.
According to him, this is the first time Udenu is producing a governorship candidate.
