Champion League: Pillars Win 2-0 In South Sudan

Kano Pillars flagged off their CAF Champions League campaign on a winning as they triumphed 2-0 victory at Malaika at the Juba, International Stadium in South Sudan.
Pillars striker Gambo Muhammed opened scoring in the 49th minute, when he headed home from a corner floated by Rabiu Ali.
They doubled the tally in the 63rd minute through Christian Obiozor, who dribbled his marker inside the area before slotting home.
The Nigerian club struggled in the first half, but they lived up to expectations after the interval.
Reacting to the road victory recorded by his side, Kano Pillars coach Okey Emordi commended his team but warned against complacency going into the return leg match in Kano in a fortnight.
Emordi said his players defied the harsh weather conditions in South Sudan to post a good outing.
Pillars skipper Theophilus Afelokhai stated it was team effort that won them the match.
