Banigo Recounts Past Achievements …Promises Better Days Ahead

rial election now slated for April 11, 2015, the running mate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr  Ipalibo Banigo, has presented herself  as a worthy candidate for a worthy course.
In a political women rally organised by the New Rivers Women in Port Harcourt Monday, the deputy-governor hopeful took the crowed  through a memory  lane of her achievements during her days as both the Head of Service and Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
According to her, conscious effort was made by her to ensure that women who were due for the office of the permanent  secretary were given the opportunity to serve as well as the appointment of women as judges, local government sole administrators and chairpersons of government parastatals.
Dr. Banigo added that through her wise  counsel to the then governor, the embargo on staff promotion was lifted while workers got their  monthly  salary as at  when due.
Dr Banigo, also used the occasion of the rally to call on all  Rivers State women, indigenes and non-indigenes to vote PDP in the forth-coming elections, promising that she will not let them down.
In her words “By the power of your votes and the will of the almighty, if we are there, we have a lot of packages for women. I promise I will not disappoint you, I will not let you down.”
The deputy-governor hopeful unfolds  plans to give priority to girl-child education as well as provide job opportunities for women across the local government areas while promising to encourage more women  into elective positions among others.
Earlier, the chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Mr. Felix Obuah, had solicited the  support  of Rivers women for the election of Dr. Ipalibo Banigo stating that from the look of things, there is every likelihood that women will take over the  leadership of the state  soon.
He therefore, called for support for President Jonathan, who he said made it possible for women to be  seen and heard.
Mr Obuah added that women have never had it better. It will be recalled that the governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic party in Rivers State, has chosen Dr. Ipalibo Banigo as a running mate  in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
