Angels, Pelicans To Clash In Champion Of Champions Tie

mier League (NWPL) board has fixed 6th March, 2015 as the date for the champion of champions competition scheduled to hold between Rivers Angels football club of Port Harcourt and Pelican Stars football club of Calabar, Cross Rivers state.
The match which is expected to hold at the National Stadium, Abuja is to decide the champion of the champions of the 2014 league season.
According to the NWPL board, Rivers Angels might have won the 2014 NWPL and the federations Cup, but, the game will pitch the League winners against the league runners-up.
The Port Harcourt side won the league with 39 points a head of the runners up, Pelican Stars, who finished with 36 points, while, in the federation cup, Rivers Angels won 2-0 against Sunshine Queens of Akure at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
Meanwhile, the Angels are preparing intensively for the competition as to enable them sweep the stakes and prove their quality.
Team Manager of the club Matil da Okuene has said that monies owed the team (Angels) were yet to be paid, saying that, it may offset the players, especially in terms of motivation.
“We shall do our let most best to exhibit what we know how to do, but, with the non-payment of our salaries, match bonuses, sign-on fees and other allowances owed the players, it might tell on them in the match”, Otuene said.
