AIG Orders Rivers CP To Rescue Kidnapped Journalist

Inspector-General of Police Zone 6, AIG Tunde Ogunsakin, has given an order to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Dan Bature to ensure that the deputy press secretary to the state governor, Fred Ndegbara kidnapped at the weekend by unknown gunmen regains his freedom.
It will be recalled that Mr Fred Ndegbara, a journalist in the state was kidnapped in Kaani I, in Khana Local Government Area of the state by unknown gunmen during an APC campaign rally over the weekend.
The AIG disclosed this while responding to questions by journalists on his commitment and efforts of the police to deal with the issues of kidnapping and torturing of journalists in the state during a press briefing held at the Police Officers Mess in Port Harcourt, Monday.
Ogunsakin averred that the police authorities within his jurisdiction frowned at the kidnapping assuring that efforts are on to ensure that the kidnapped journalist would soon regain his freedom and join his family.
He stated the marching order given to the state Commissioner of Police to ensure the early release of the media aid to the state governor underscores the greater importance and seriousness the police attaches to kidnapping and other criminal activities in the society.
The AIG zone 6 urged the people of the society especially journalists in the state on the ability of the police ensure that their colleague kidnapped would be release, adding that those fund culpable in the act will be made to face the wrath of the law.
