Wike Promises To Give Ikwerres Back Their Lands
The former Minister of
State for Education and Peoples Democratic Party Governorship flag-bearer in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike has vowed to review all Ikwerre lands allegedly encroached and sold by governments and individuals, if voted as governor of the state.
Chief Wike made the vow Wednesday at his flag-off compaign at Isiokpo, the headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He regretted that Ikwerre people were denied their rights of land ownership by successive governments of PDP State, including Governor Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi’s administration, without compensations.
According to him, his administration would ensure that all Ikwerre lands that were forcefully collected and encroached by any agent, or government is retrieved back to the owners if elected as governor of the state.
While urging the people of Ikwerre to vote him into power to correct what he called the years of neglects in Ikwerre land by the present administration in the state, Chief Wike promised to build modern General Hospitals in the state, create jobs opportunities by reviving all the state institutions and firms that were allegedly privatised and sold by the present government in the state.
The PDP flag bearer also promised to be civil servant friendly by paying salaries promptly and embarking on regular training of workers as well as given them scholarship to enable them meet up with the modern challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the Ikwerre Local Government Area, the former Governor of the state, Sir Celestine Omehia described Chief Wike as true son of Ikwerre, who would bring back the lost glory of Ikwerre land.
Omehia urged the PDP flag bearer to revive the Risonplam firm, Hotels and agricultural development to create jobs for Rivers people, as well as construct more roads to link all villages and towns in the local government area, if voted into power.
