An eye witness account said the incident occurred at about 2am Monday morning, adding that residents of both communities woke up to see the lifeless bodies of the slained cultists.
The Tide learnt that Etche local government area had in recent times been engulfed with cult activities, the Dey-gbam and Dey-well who are contesting for supremacy in the area.

A resident of Umuokom Obibi, who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the community has been deserted by the residents due to fear of reprisal attacks from members of the cult group.
According to him, many houses have been set on fire by youths who allegedly belong to the group in protest of the death of their colleague.
There is also an accusing finger that the killers of these cultists may have come from their rival group, Dey-well, while others are alleging that it may have been sold out by members of his group.
