Trader Charged With Cutting Man’s Eye
A trader, Ahmed
Olatunji, 23, who allegedly used cutlass to inflict injuries on another man’s eye, on Monday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, whose address is unknown, was arraigned on a charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused inflicted injuries on Mr Monday James’s right eye following an argument over money.
Ekundayo said that the assault took place on December 17 at about 2p.m., at Odunade Market, Coker, Orile, Lagos.
“The victim is in a hospital recuperating from the multiple injuries he sustained from the assault,’’ he said.
Ekundayo said that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. M.O Olajunwon, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till January 12, for substantive trial.
