Rivers Weightlifters Resume Preparations For 19th NSF

Weightlifting Association has begun preparations for the forthcoming 19th National Sports Festival tagged “2014 Centenary Games” scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross River State later this year.
Assistant Coach of the team, Mike Onyekachi who disclosed this last week, in an exclusive interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, said that normal training sessions resumed early last week.
According to Onyekachi , the body wants to ensure that no stone would be left un-turned in their  quest to excel at the festivals. He notes that there was barely three months before the scheduled date for the fiesta, saying that, the preparations made last year needed to be enhanced and improved upon to enable the athletes be in top shape for the task ahead.
He stated that their desire is to win more medals than they won last time out for the state at the 19th Sports fiesta, adding that, all hands must be on deck to achieve this dream.
He therefore, urged that weightlifters should take their training more seriously and show commitment in all their personal and collective goal this year.
He advised the athletes to stay away from any form of distraction and endeavour to exhibit discipline in all their dealings within and outside the sports arena.
