Rivers Set For Good Impact At President’s Cup

The Rivers State Football
team participating in the 2015 President’s Cup football competition is working towards making an impression at the national stage of the tournament after securing one of the tickets from the South South zone.
Already, preparations are in top gear for the competition scheduled for Abuja later in the year and the Rivers State team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure successful outing when the tournament commences.
Coach of the Rivers State team, Tony Chuku, who disclosed this yesterday in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt said that his team is doing everything possible to ensure that the state is well-represented when the competition gets under way.
According to him, the team is working assiduously in order to compete favourably with their counterparts from across the federation.
The competition which is organised bythe FCT, Sports Council was divided into zones for the Zonal elimination competition held the zones last week.
The competition is designed to discover young talents and nature them to limelight. It is also aimed at grassroots development of the nation’s youth, as well as held in achieving unity in the country.
It would be recalled that Rivers State and Akwa-Ibom qualified from the South-South zone at the zonal elimination play-off.
Date for the main tournament was yet to be known as at press time.
