Pray For Free, Fair Polls, Politician Urges Nigerians
A stalwart of the
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra, Chief Emma Anosike , has urged Nigerians to pray for the conduct of a free and fair general elections.
Anosike, a former senator representing Anambra North, made the call at Umueri, while presenting 50 wheelchairs, food items and wrappers to the physically challenged and widows.
He said what the country needed presently were prayers, adding, “Nigerians should pray for the peaceful conduct of February elections to avert loss of lives.
“We shall continue to empower widows and the less privileged in our society. We will next time establish free medical check-up and persons found sick would be taken to general hospitals for treatment.
“It is my belief that if every well-meaning persons in Anambra North come out to do what I am doing, the level of poverty will reduce in the area.
“It is also my hope that it will be bigger next time than what we have today. I urge federal and state government to assist those in the rural areas through provision of basic amenities and good medical care,’’ he said.
He said he was not expecting anything in return from his gesture but peoples’ prayers.
One of the widows from Oyi Local Government Area, Mrs Roseline Chinweze, commended Anosike for the assistance and called on other wealthly people in the area to emulate his kind gestures .
A physically challenged persons, Mr Christopher Ifediora, recalled that Anosike had given him money for his children’s school fees and to start a small scale business.
Another widow from Anambra East Local Government Area, Mrs Cordelia Okeke, also recalled that Anosike had provided free medical care and relief materials during 2012 flood disaster.
“He is humble and accommodating, I pray God to sustain him and his humanitarian gestures,’’ she said.
