Politician Promises 500 Life Jackets To Okrika Boat Drivers

A philanthropist and
frontline Politician in Rivers State Atamuno Ajubo Atamuno, has promised to provide 500 life jackets to the Speed Boat Owners Association of  Okrike Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Atamuno made the promise while speaking as Chairman of the occasion during the official opening ceremony of a speed Boat House built by the association at the ATC Waterfront, Okrika on Saturday.
He said the gesture was to boost the safety of the people as well as make the union move forward in their daily business.
According to him, as a professional who knew the value of safety rules and regulations, provision of the life jackets would be an added measure on safety of lives and property in Marine transportation, calling on all to assist the Assocation.
Atamuno,  who was a Governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State expressed delight with members of the Association for building an edifice, enjoining them to remain committed and in unity for more developmental projects.
Earlier in their address, the chairman of the Association, Epeya Sunday Okari said the edifice was built through the collective effort of members for the comfort of the teeming commuting public and vowed to continue to ensure that all members remained united.
Epeya, whose address was read by the spokesman of the association, George Ottah said the project which was the brain-child of the association’s Chairman also introduced the use of life Jackets since his inception for the safety of the passengers, and appealed for support from stakeholders and the public.
He however thanked all that assisted them to make their dream come true and solicited for their continued assistance.
The Okrika speed Boat House cost over N19 million and has waiting room, offices, room for prayer team and conference Hall as well as a section for computer training.
