Police Kill Two Notorous Cultists In Etche

Robbery Squard otherwise called SARS on Monday, killed two notorious cultists along Ikem Akwukabi road in Etche Local Government Area of the state.
The policemen were among the special police squad deployed by the state Commissioner of Police CP Dan Bature on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to restore law and order in the area following the rampaging of cult activities in various part, of the local government area.
Etche Local Government Area have come under series of attacks in recent time occasioned by the upsurge of the two leading cult groups, Dey-Gbam and Dey Well which had led to killing of many people as well as destruction of houses in the area.
An eye witness who spoke to The Tide on conditions of anonymity, said the incident happened at about 1pm on Monday along the Ikem/Akwukabi road.
According to the report, the two members of Dey-Gbam cult group went to rob at the Ikem/Akwukabi road on that fateful day but unknown to them that two policemen had already laid ambush in the same direction they were about to rob their unsuspecting victims.
The source further disclosed that when the two policemen sighted the robbers loading their guns for the days operation they quietly called on their colleagues to come to the scene, adding that when the robbers saw the policemen  they attempted to escape but were gun down by the two policemen who had already laid ambush in the bush.
The Tide learnt that one of the robbers died on the spot while the other ran but was later caught by the police with the help of the communities boys who led a search operation in the bush and later found the fleeing robber.
The Tide learnt that there was a huge jubilation within the local government as the news filtered that the police had gun down two of the cultists terrorising the area.
The Tide further learnt that Akwukabi, Okehi, Ikem Obibi, Albalu, Igbodo and Akwuobur are major stronghold of the cult insurgence in the area.
A Senior police officer at the Okehi Police Division who confirm the story to our correspondent said, “the news you heard was true, see their dead bodies here, “adding that was the only thing he can  say even as he referred our correspondent to police headquarters.
When contacted on phone, the state police command spokes person, DSP Ahmed Mohamad said he is yet to receive brief from the Okehi Division.
