The Nigeria Football
Federation(NFF) has denied a report that president Amaju Pinnick testified in a case before the Court of Arbitration for Sports(CAS) by some football stakeholders led by Chris Giwa.
According to an official statement by the NFF, Amaju was nowhere near Swizerland as he is in Equatorial Guinea for CAF duties.
“Our attention has been drawn to a report that the NFF president Amaju Melvin Pinnick and Ambassador Chris Giwa testified before the Court of Arbitration for Sports in a case brought by Ambassador Giwa and few others,” read the statement.
“Ordinarily, there would have been no need to react to this report, but we feel it is important to put the facts straight. The President of Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, has been on CAF duty in Equatorial Guinea, and that was made known to the public. He was nowhere near Lausanne where the hearing took place.
“It is also important to let the public know that the said case was instituted by Ambassador Giwa and Mr. Yahaya Adams, claiming to represent NFF, against the world governing body, FIFA.
“The NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu was in Lausanne to give evidence on behalf of FIFA, to prove clearly that there was no election on 26th August, 2014 as claimed by the plaintiffs.”
