Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has hailed the Federal Government over the reduction of pump price of petroleum products recently announced by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke.
A press release signed by its National President, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama and obtained by The Tide from the union’s state secretariat at old Aba Road, Rumuobiakani, Port Harcourt on Wednesday said the union has been vindicated with the Federal Government’s action.
Kaigama said TUC had been agitating for government to reduce the pump, price stressing that the decision was a step in the right direction and clearly shows that the government is sensitive to the plight of Nigerians.
He said the reduction came without a fight from the organised labour and civil societies but as a result of the trend in the international market over the falling price of crude oil.
The Tide boss enjoined Nigerians to enforce compliance with the government directive over the new pump price of N87 per litre of the petroleum product.
He explained that the union would never abdicate its mandate and responsibilities to product the Nigerian workers and their welfare in the face of any economic hardship.
He appealed to the Federal Government to ensure that policies are formulated with a view to protecting ordinary Nigerians against unfavourable conditions of living.
