NURSS Drums Support For Dakuku
Students in Rivers State have vowed to mobilize mass support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside in the forthcoming Governorship election in the state.
The students stated this in a communiqué at the end of a breakfast meeting with the APC Governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, organized by the Greater Together Campaign Organisation last Saturday at A&G Event Place, Old GRA, Port Harcourt.
The communiqué, which was read by the National President of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), Comrade Lucky Mazi Chukuladi, stated that “the emergence of Dakuku Peterside, former NURSS president represents the rights and privileges of students in Rivers State”.
It also applauded the developmental strides of the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, particularly in the educational sector, and endorsed Dakuku Peterside as the choice candidate of students in the Rivers Governorship election.
In his welcome address, Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Students Affairs, Comrade Matthew Tamuno Osika, described Dr. Dakuku Peterside as an embodiment of humility and service, and assured that the APC governorship candidate and former student union activitist and leader would earn the vote of students.
In his remarks, Director of Mobilization, Greater Together Campaign Organisation, Hon. Orji Ngofa, described students as the cutting edge for change, and urged the organized student community to replicate the change in Rivers State by voting for the APC, which represents change and defend their votes.
Ngofa, a former chairman of Eleme LGA, stated that Dakuku was the most dependable candidate that can fulfill the yearnings and aspirations of students, having gone through the crucibles of students’ unionism.
Addressing the students, the APC Governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, thanked the students for the support, and pointed out that his foundation of success draws from students’ activism.
Peterside charged the students to rise above sentiments and vote wisely to secure their future, noting that the power of vision belongs to young people.
The APC standard bearer recalled that Nigeria’s greatest leaders such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo were students union leaders.
