to the General Election, the Rivers State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Oliver Wolugbom, has urged politicians to base their campaign on issue rather then making combustive comments that could inflame the country.
Mr Wolugbom, who spoke to The Tide on Tuesday at the Port Harcourt International Airport shortly before departing for Lagos on an official engagement, enjoined politicians to follow the rules of the game that is acceptable in the modern world.
He noted that the electorate are wiser now and would want to see the candidates discuss issues in their quest to lead the people, stressing that the era of ballot box snatching had gone with the one man one vote philosophy.
The NOA director appealed to the political parties to place the interest of the nation above personal or group interest, emphasising that Nigerians must work together to achieve free, fair and credible  elections in February.
According to him, “there is nowhere in the world where the electoral body will be 100 per cent perfect because we live in an imperfect world.
He explained that like every organisation, INEC has some challenges, but it does not take away the credibility of its existence.
Mr Wolugbom appealed to Nigerians to have faith in the country, promote its achievements and things that unite the country being pessimistic.
On the performance of NOA, he said, “we have officers in all the 23 local government areas and have gone to all the nooks and crannies to tell the people to vote according to their conscience, particularly the youths not to participate in violence, but get a voters card to vote because only one person will win for a particular office.
