Nigeria Needs Massive Agric Revolution to Boost Economy – Commissioner

Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Barrs. Kayode Towoju has said that in order to drive food security in the country, agricultural stakeholders should advocate the need for massive rural-urban agricultural development.
Towoju, who stated this recently during the opening ceremony of the 6th Kwara National Agric show, said this was the only way forward to boost production, create employment for the country’s teaming unemployed and stabilize the nation’s economy in the face of falling oil prices.
The agric boss, who outlined the implications of the dwindling oil revenue cited agricultural revolution as the alternative to boosting the nation’s economy while pledging the commitment of the Kwara State government to agricultural development, thus enhancing its reputation as a national agricultural hub.
The agric show tagged “Enhancing Food Security in Nigeria through Commercial Agricultural Development” had over 500 private and public sector players across the country who participated in the event
Utilising the platform provided by the event, the commissioner called on both local and foreign investors to take full advantage of prevailing economic and harmonious environment within the state to advance the Governor Abdulfata Ahmed-led administration’s resolve to improve market efficiency.
