Jonathan Tasks Politicians On Peace
President Goodluck
Jonathan has urged politicians to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship to live above divisive tendencies that might ruin the peace and collective aspiration of Anambra.
Jonathan gave the advice during a presidential rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Onitsha, Anambra.
“In Anambra, PDP is for Jonathan, APGA is for Jonathan and as far as I am concerned both parties are one in Anambra, pursuing the same goal which is politics of development.
“I want to appeal to you as a brother, for you to go to the poll as one and shun all divisive tendencies that might ruin the peace and collective aspiration of Anambra people.
“I want to urge you to imbibe the spirit of good sportsman in all you do,’’ he said.
The president said that he was not in Anambra for a fresh campaign but to appreciate the people for their massive support in 2011.
Jonathan said that he was grateful for their undoubted support for his re-election right from when he made his intention known.
“God willing, if we sail through during this election, we have a lot of things to do for Anambra and the South-East people.
“My heart is with you all and the support you are giving my government will not go for nothing.
“I want you all to be patient with us a lot of good things are coming for you,’’ he assured.
Earlier, Gov. Willie Obiano assured the president that Anambra people were solidly behind him.
“We will deliver 100 per cent vote to you come Feb. 14 election, you don’t need to come here to campaign, our votes are for you’’.
“Anambra is safe now; we do not have security challenges and our people go about their businesses without fear.
“I urge you to allow some of your entourage to stay back for a day and enjoy our peaceful and hospitable people,’’ he said.
Responding, the Obi of-Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, thanked the president for encouraging Anambra politicians to know that PDP and APGA are the same.
He noted that the rally had proved that both parties are on the same platform.
Achebe lauded Jonathan for supporting former Gov. Peter Obi’s administration and appealed to him to give the same support to the incumbent governor.
The National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, commended the people of Anambra for their support to PDP even when the state is under an APGA-led government.
“We want you to vote massively for our performing, peaceful, intelligent, humble, unassuming president whose administration has taken Nigeria to a higher level in all aspects of life.
“PDP is APGA and APGA is PDP we appreciate the cordial relationship.
