Housing develop
ment activities have geared up in Port Harcourt and its environment, particularly in the Obio/Akpor area of the metropolis, following the proper setting in the dry season.
The Tide reports that most of the construction sites abandoned during last year’s rainy season are now full of activities, as developers have re-mobilised to construction sites.
On the Ozuoba and NTA Road axis, it was observed that many sites that were abandoned including those for high-rise buildings are now full of activities.
The same could be said for those within the Rumuekini and Alakahia areas, where some of the project sites which were overtaken by flood, are now full of activities, as trucks that convey materials now have access to the sites without hinderance.
One of the developers, Mr Cyril Worlu who reacted to the development told The Tide that he planned to finish his project before November or early December 2014, but was obstructed by the flooding and soft soil Conversely he said that now that the place is dry, with the strong soil, that he wants to ensure that the project is completed in this 2015 first quarters.
Meanwhile, one of the construction workers, John Etim has said that the first quarter of the year was usually their peak period for building construction work, and that it is the time they make more money in their jobs.
