Gunmen Abduct Commissioner’s Father In Rivers
Unknown gunmen
have kidnapped the father of Rivers State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, His Royal Highness, Eze Joshua Ayiba.
The incident occurred on Sunday, when the traditional ruler was in church service in his home town in Okugbe community in Ahoada West local government area of the state.
Before his abduction, Eze Joshua Ayiba was the paramount ruler of the community.
Speaking to journalists, the state Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon Samuel Ayiba, said the abductors of his father set the car that conveyed his father to church ablazed by the riverside, before fleeing with his father to an unknown destination.
According to him, “I visited home at about 10:30 this morning, when I arrived home, I was just driving in when I received a desperate call from one of my loyalists, telling me that my dad had been abducted while in a church service in his home town, Okugbe community”.
“So immediately I rushed to the scene, the abductors had already fled with him, we made calls across to the security operatives and they had identified the vehicle but unfortunately it had been set ablazed and they had left with my dad, so truly my dad has been kidnapped”.
He commended the efforts of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Adaoha, for his frantic effort to rescue his father and has pleaded with the abductors to release his father unconditionally.
The state commissioner for local government affairs averred that he does not really know the motive behind the abduction.
“But all I can say for now is am calling on security operatives to do everything within their powers to ensure that the monarch of Okugbe clan of Ahoada West, His Highness Eze Joshua Abiya is released unconditionally and in good health”.
“It is important for us because he is a rallying point for the Okugbe people, and the Okugbe people are very shocked at the dastardly act.
So once again, I will call on security agents to ensure his release in good health and unconditionally”.
