Egwuekwe Nears West Ham Move
Warri Wolves skipper,
Azubike Egwuekwe has moved closer to nailing a deal with interested English Premier League club West Ham United.
The AFCON 2013 winner was recently in London for trials with the Hammers and made a favourable impression.
Tidesports learnt that the former club of Nigeria forward Obinna Nsofor has made an offer of £500,000 for a contract of three and a half years.
However, the amount falls short of the asking price of the player agent which £1.2m.
West Ham, it was also gathered, is also offering a £15,000-a-week wage for the big central defender, while Warri Wolves are asking for €300,000.
Azubike Egwuekwe, who is currently with the Super Eagles ‘B’ team ahead of a friendly against Sudan on Saturday, hinted last week he has received an interest from an EPL club.
“Offers are coming from overseas, I have an offer from an EPL club, the (English) Championship and from Russia,” he disclosed.
“I am still a Warri Wolves, but at the end of this month, I hope to say bye bye to Warri Wolves.”
Egwuekwe was on the Eagles squad who won the 2013 AFCON, the FIFA Confederations Cup as well as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
