Cult Group Allegedly Attacks Egbeda Youth
A group of persons
suspected to be members of the Dey-Gbam cult have allegedly shot and wounded one boy in Omuordu, Egbeda in Emohua Local Government Area of the Rivers State.
An eyewitness, who spoke under the cloak of anonymity told The Tide in Port Harcourt at the weekend that the attack on the Omuordu boy was a reprisal attack following the killing of Friday Ordu, a Dey-Gbam Kingpin more than one week ago in the same community.
The eyewitness explained that most killings in the community were related to rivalry among cult groups in the area. He said that the rivalry between the Icelanders and Dey-Gbam in the community had become fierce and pointed out the Dey-Well and Icelanders were working as a group against a common enemy.
The witness noted that heinous crimes were committed by the groups and urged well meaning individuals in the community to do something urgently before the situation got out of hands. It will be recalled that following the death of the Dey-Gbam strong man, the Divisional police headquarters at Egbeda imposed a dusk to dawn curfew.
