Association Plans To Shift Garden City Cycling Tourney
The annual cycling
competition tagged “Garden City Cycling Championship” which usually holds in the month of February, every New Year may be shifted to March this year.
Head Coach of the Rivers State Cycling Association, Emmanuel Onosanya, disclosed this in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
He said that the shift in date was due to the upcoming general elections which are expected to hold between February 14 and 28, 2015.
“We may not have the time to organise such level of competition, owing to the situation on ground. So, the body has decided to hold back till the elections are over, then we now fix a date for the event”, he said.
However, the coach advised the cyclists to remain calm and focused on their trainings, as they prepare for the forthcoming National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Calabar, Cross Rivers State and other competitions.
Meanwhile, the monthly cycling competition usually organised by the body as part of preparations for the NSF and other competitions is scheduled to hold 31st January, in Port Harcourt.
It would be recalled that the monthly cycling competition is held amongst cyclists within the Niger Delta region.
