2015: Lawyers Root For Dakuku, Asita
A group of lawyers in Rivers State working under the auspices of Legal Associates for Change has endorsed Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his running mate, Honourable Asita as next governor and deputy governor of Rivers State.
Coordinator of the group, Barrister Eric O. Robinson, who disclosed this during a meeting with the Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC in Port Harcourt, also described the duo of Peterside and Asita as God-fearing, humble and purpose-driven gentleman, destined to take Rivers State to greater heights.
He said they are, “a divine tag team that will build on the solid infrastructural and human capital development laid by our dynamic and pragmatic Governor, Chibuike Amaechi.
He added that the duo make “a divine tag team that will ensure the sacred duty of protection and security of lives and property”.
He said that the forum has mobilized lawyers in the 23 local government areas that are ready to vigorously work for the success of the APC in all the elections.
Robinson also said that their membership cuts across the 23 local government areas, including non-indigenous lawyers, stressing that their endorsement has debunked the enormous impression being pedduled in some quarters that lawyers in Rives State are against Governor Amaechi.
He, however, called for support to enable the forum effectively discharge its duties.
Responding, the Deputy Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Asita regretted the continued closure of courts in Rivers State, which is affecting most junior lawyers.
Asita pledged to unite the Bar Associations in Rivers State, stressing that the next administration will ensure a peaceful judiciary in the state.
He, however, urged them to bring other lawyers, to their fold with the view to achieving set objectives.
