Yuletide: Computer, Mobile Phone Dealers Slash Prices
In a bid to allow its
customers celebrate the 2014 Christmas in colour, computer, laptop and cell phone dealers, say they have slashed the prices of their commodities by 50 per cent.
Speaking with The Tide during the week in Port Harcourt, a phone dealer, Mr Nwarisi Nkasiobi, said some phones that were sold for N20,000 now go N11.500.
He said he wanted to ensure that his customers who wanted to have new phones were not denied the opportunity due to lack of money.
Nwarisi, maintained that there was nothing wrong in the sales promo, adding that customers are also entitled to benefit from the system.
The phone dealer, argued that business was a two-way traffic and not a one-way road.
He said the promo would not negatively affect the business as believed in some quarters hinting that his customers also granted him a level of discount.
Another respondent, a laptop dealer, Mrs Chikanma Okoye, said some laptop of N70,000 can now sell for about N62.000.
She noted that this year’s Christmas sales are not booming as others due to lack of money.
Okoye, who said she has put up over 15 years in Rivers State, could not recall when last money was scarce in the state.
She also based the promo sales on the issue of shortage of money in circulation, while calling on the people to support her trade.
Our reporter, who visited the popular Garrison market and other phone markets reports that some phone services such as flashing could now be done with N500.00.
The Tide also gathered that phone screen like that of Nokia C3 that was sold for N1,200.00 is now N800.00 due to the promo that is ongoing in the system.
