‘Volleyball Championships Strategic For Talent Discovery’
The Secretary of the
Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) Adeniyi Bayoku, has  said   the National Championship in Kaduna was aimed at discovering new talents for the national team.
The National Volleyball championship kicked off on December 13 and would ended on  Saturday in Kaduna.
Bayoku told newsmen in Lagos that players would be selected for the national team to represent the country at competitions like the 2015 All Africa Games and in preparation toward Rio 2016.
“The championship is to round-off the year and ensure that new, talented players are able to emerge.
“It is just like a league. So the major focus is on selecting a new national team,” the secretary said.
Bayoku said that another beach volleyball open championship  commenced from December 18 to end tomorrow  in Kaduna, to also select new talents.
“Majority of what we have done this year is developmental and in preparation for upcoming events such as the All Africa Games and the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“It has been a busy year for the NVBF but it is worth it, because it is all geared towards the development of the game through regular exposure,” Bayoku added.
