UNIPORT VC, Others Bag NSE Fellowship Award

The Vice Chancellor, Uni
versity of Port Harcourt, Professor Joseph Ajienka was amongst those inducted as a Fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) Port Harcourt branch.
Speaking at the induction ceremony which took place at the NSE Secretariat in Port Harcourt recently, the branch Chairman, Engr. Kombo Theophilus-Johnson said their exemplary professional conduct and integrity had informed their elevation to highest cadre of membership of the society.
Theophilus-Johnson charged them not to rest on their oasi or achievements but rather continue to show professionalism in their activities as well as mentor the young engineers to be good ambassadors of the profession.
He congratulated the 98 new members who were admitted into membership of the society and enjoined them to project the image of the body positively in their respective organisations or companies.
“As worthy ambassadors, I will urge you not to compromise on engineering standards in your day to day practice and you must strive for continuous professional development at all times to be outstanding in your endeavours”, the Chairman said, adding that they were expected to expose all acts inimical to the ethics of the profession both in their organisations and the wider society.
The NSE Chairman however disclosed that the branch had put in place several activities to keep its members abreast of  the requirements of modern day Engineering, and urged them to always attend technical workshops and conferences that would be relevant to them.
“You should also resist the temptation of just being inducted today and later claim to be too busy such that you do not participate in Branch and National activities she added.
