U-14 Soccer Tourney Kicks-Off, Saturday

The maiden edition of
Akin Akinbobola U-14 Soccer Tournament is to kick off in Ondo town on December 20 with 10 teams participating, the organisers have said.
The Chairman of the organising committee, Mr. Kayode Adeyemi, told newsmen in Ondo that the tournament would help develop and expose grassroots footballers.
According to Adeyemi, the tournament is to develop talented youths who can be engaged for both national and international competitions.
He said that the registration and screening of all participating teams would end tomorrow.
“Preparation for the competition started on Saturday, December 13, with the screening of players; this was extended to Thursday, December 18 to allow more interested teams to participate.
“So far, we have registered close to 10 teams and they have all been cleared to participate in the competition.’’
The coach said that plans had been concluded to organise a successful competition and urged the participating teams to comply with the rules and regulations of the tournament.
He advised interested teams to register before the deadline.
“Interested youth football teams can still pick up registration forms at the Ondo Township Stadium on or before December 18 which is the deadline.’’
