Sports Agency To Train 1,800 Youths
Football enthusiast,
Patrick Akosubo, has said that plans were on to train 1,800 Nigerian youths bi-monthly in 10 different sports.
Akosubo, who retired as a Group Captain in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), said that the plans would be achieved through his sports agency, Bowei Network Enterprise Initiator’’.
He said that the programme would kick off by the middle of 2015, to develop athletes that would represent the country at the international competitions.
The retired Air Force officer said that the campaign tagged: “Touch a Life through Sports’’ targeted 10, 800 sportsmen and women annually.
“The programme is designed to bring together 1,800 Nigerian youths bi-monthly, to be trained in 10 sporting events.
“The events are athletics, basketball, boxing, football, table tennis, golf, volleyball, wrestling, weightlifting and swimming.
“A total of 10, 800 youths are expected to be engaged actively in six camps across the six geo-political zones of the country,’’ Akosubo said.
He said that the training would cost his agency about N420 million in all, and N70 million for each camp.
Akosubo said that the project would be taken to Nigerians who have the interest of sports at heart for sponsorship.
