Rivers Chief Registrar Regains Freedom From Abductors

The Chief registrar, High Court, Rivers State Judiciary, Mr. Leonard K. Adoki who was abducted six days ago in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State by gunmen has been released.
The State Police Command Public Relations officer, (PPRO), DSP Ahmad Mohammad disclosed this while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Monday.
DSP Mohammad said that Leonard K. Adoki was released Friday and had since rejoined his family and friends adding that no ransom was paid for his release.
Confirming the release of the Chief Registrar, the Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Bar Association Port Harcourt branch, Mr. Angus Chukwuka said Adoki has already regained freedom from his captors and commended the Police, security agencies and spirited individual who contributed to the release of their colleague.
The Tide learnt that, Adoki was kidnapped on November 28, 2014 at Amalem, Abua in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State his home town on his way back from Church Service.
The Tide gathered that the Chief Registrar, spend six days in the hands of his abductors before he was released Friday night.
Although, the Police had said that no ransom was paid before he was released, a source who confided with The Tide, said the kidnappers had earlier demanded the sum of N20 million and later reduced it to N10 million.
It would be recalled that the Police had earlier announced that two persons were arrested as members of the kidnapping gang, while investigation was still on-going.
