The organised labour
in Nigeria has tasked the Minister of Petroleum Resources and newly elected first female president, Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, to be a good ambassador of the country.
Speaking to The Tide in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the Public Relations Officer, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) Comrade Babatunde Oke, said the Petroleum Resources Minister’s election came at a very crucial period when the country is experiencing dwindling crude oil price.
Oke said it was imperative for OPEC President to articulate effective measures to arrest the situation from her vantage position and reassure Nigerians of better proactive economy.
He stressed that the organised labour expected that she will quickly get her acts together to start working to salvage the economy from total collapse and depression occasioned by dwindling crude oil price in the international market.
The union’s spokesperson said the minister’s election was a good one for Nigeria’s image within the comity of OPEC nations, stressing that her election will boost Nigeria’s image and interest as well as find effective ways of arresting the dwindling oil price.
