PDP Bigwigs Defect To APC

Some members of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have decamped to All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former PDP members, who were also members of the Rivers State Mainstream Coalition, one of the pressure group of the PDP said they would work and support Hon. Dakuku Peterside, the Governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 governorship election in the state.
The group led by Lolo Ibieneye, Sotonye I. Dagogo, Custis Dike Chief David Soloka and Alhaji Yusuf Obediah defected to the APC, to the APC, Monday at the flag-off of the APC campaign in Port Harcourt City Local Government.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Lolo Ibieneye, former Commissioner in the State said their decisions to join the APC was based on the principle of Maintstream Coalition, that power must shift from one part of the state to another.
He said, the group decided to join the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in APC because of his philosophy of power shift for equity and to maintain the existing peace and unity among the ethnic groups in the state.
He commended Governor Amaechi for standing firm on truth and justice for the state to move forward.
Ibieneye said that “the group in conjunction with other popular groups in PDP had done their possible best to ensure there is justice and equity in the party concerning zoning as it is spelt out in the PDP Constitution, but the national executive of the party and the leadership remained undemocratic, to ensure justice that rule of law prevailed.
He vowed that, the group will do anything possible within their power to vote out PDP in the state and Nigeria in general in the 2015 elections. Also speaking, Custis Dike, from Obio/Akpor Local Government Area said the group decided to back out from PDP because Ikwerre people were not greedy, noting that the APC has shown the spirit of give and take to move the state forward.

Chief Ikanya assured the new APC members that, there would be no regret for them to join the party, urged them to be committed to the party’s activities to ensure the party’s victory in the state and Nigeria in next years elections.
