NSCDC Urges Delta Residents To Maintain Peace
The Nigeria Security and
Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command has restated the need for residents of the state to maintain peace and order during the yuletide celebration.
The state Commandant of the Corps, Mr Clement Adesuyi said this last Monday in Asaba while speaking on the security situation of the state during the Christmas celebration.
“There is no alternative to peaceful co-existence. It is only when there is peace and unity that you will enjoy the birth of Jesus Christ whom we are celebrating.
“Peace is the panacea to meaningful development in any society, so we need peace in our homes, community, Delta State and Nigeria at large, especially for the conduct of the 2015 election,’’ he said.
Adesuyi said that the traffic situation at the Benin-Onitsha expressway was properly coordinated during the Christmas celebration to ensure the free movement of vehicles.
He said that reports from various divisions of the command in the state showed that the Christmas celebration was peaceful with no reports of insecurity.
The commandant said that vandals did not get the chance to operate as all areas prone to vandalism, adding that the areas were closely monitored by officers that mounted 24 hours surveillance in the ‘black spots’.
He called on the public to always protect government installations in their community and provide them with prompt and useful information for the prevention of crime.
