Nigeria Dream Team Thrashes Stars 4-0
Nigeria U23s, known as
Dream Team VI, thrashed Benin-based Ine Stars FC 4-0 in a test game in Abuja on Wednesday.
The entertaining game kicked off with the Dream Team parading the likes of goalkeeper Itodo Akor, Okorom Stanley, Mugharu Dede, Iroakas Kingsley, Segun Oduduwa, Fiasal Sani, Tiongoli Tonbara, Oghenekaro Etebor, Chijioke Omeke, Newman Doubra, and Freedom Omofonma.
The Dream Team VI immediately seized the initiative from the blast of the referee’s whistle after the initial challenge from the youthful Ine Stars, forcing Itodo to make some early saves, but in the 10th minute, Oghenekaro Etebor shrugged off the challenge from the central defender of Ine Stars to score the first goal in the 10th minute off a pass from youthful Newman Doubra.
After the goal, it was all Dream Team VI as they became more confident.
on and off the ball, and in the 20th minute Etebor was on hand to punish the Ine Stars defence for some slack defending by chipping the ball over the head of the defence line after his shot had been parried by the Ine goalkeeper for the second goal of the game.
This goal seemed to take the steam off the team from Benin as the Freedom Omofonma and Tonbara Tiongoli continued tormenting them from the flanks while Etebor and Doubra were a delight to watch in the middle of the park, but their play did not result in any goal before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Siasia made a clear change of all the players who played the first half, and the new set continued from where their colleagues stopped and as early as the 47th minute Junior Ajayi put the Dream Team VI three goals up off a rebound from a pull out by wing wizard ýGodwin Saviour, and in the 50th minute Ine Stars conceded an own goal off a pull-out from Saviour to increase the tally to 4 -0.
