Mohammed Wins KRPC Golf Championship

Kano Golf club has emerged the overall  winner for the Eleventh  KRPC annual Amateur Golf Championship Compition in kaduna at the weekend.
Mohammed finished with a gross score of 76 in the category 1 handicap 0-9  to beat his closest rival Abu Ahmed who pulled a gross score of 77 in this category.
While in category II handicap 10-20 Arabi Bello of Kaduna Golf Club finished with a net score of 65 to win that category, he was closely followed by Kunle Kolade of same Kaduna Golf Club who garnered a net score of 66.
In the  ladies  categories, Rakiya Mustapha of Kaduna Golf Club was the overall winner with a net score of 71, while Amina Anebi pulled a total  net score of 72 to be the runner-up. Oliver N won the veteran category with a net score of 69, while Frank Onotu finished second with net score of 71.
Kaduna state deputy governor,
Amb. Nuhu Bajoga won the MD invitees category by pulling a  net score of 77 and he was closely followed by Adamu Hassan who played a net score of 78.
For  the NNPC/KRPC staff category Kurah Ibrahim finished  top by pulling a net score of 71 after count back to beat his closest rival Adamu Garba who pulled a net score of 71.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the KRPC Managing Director Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed   said the company is committed to sports development in Nigeria.
He  said this was demonstrated by sponsoring various sporting competitions in their immediate community, Kaduna state and the nation at large.
“We have sponsored competitions in football, tennis, track and field, we also believe that this amateur golf competition that we have sponsored in the last eleventh years has helped in identifying some budding golfing talents,” he said.
On his part, Captain of Kaduna Engr. Suleiman Adamu who was represented by the Vice Captain, Mr. Mike Operhe  appreciated the untiring efforts of the KRPC for the sponsorship of this tournament for the past 11 years.
He however appealed to the KRPC to make the tournament a 2-day event so that  the  strength of the amateur golfers would be better tested.
Other anciliary prizes won were Longest drive which Raymond Yaki and Ivy Achir of Kaduna Golf club won for men and ladies categories respectively. While Kaka Kazeem and Amua Iember both of Kaduna Golf Club won the nearest to the Pin for men and ladies categories respectively.
Members from Kaduna Golf club, IBB International Golf and Country club, Kano, Katsina, Minna, NDA, Ola Sa’ad, Rayfied and Flamingo Golf clubs are among the various players that participated in this year’s tournament.
