Magistrate Sentences Man, 31, to 9 ½ Months For Stealing
A 31-year-old man,
Lukeman Tiyamiyu, was on Wednesday sentenced to nine and a half months imprisonment without an option of fine, by an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for stealing various properties.
Tiyamiyu, whose address was not provided, pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of breaking into a shop and stealing items valued N80, 800.
The Magistrate, J. L. Hotepo, said the accused, who admitted THE facts against him, said that the sentence of 9 ½ months was on each of the two charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused had on November 27, at 3.40p.m., at No 8, Adeniran St., Mebamu in Okokomaiko, broke into the shop of one Unusotame Ochuko.
‘The accused on the said date, unlawfully entered into the shop of Ochuko by coming into the shop through the window,” he said.
According to him, the accused also stole a Tiger generator valued N12,000, property of Umusotme, clothing materials, N60,000 cash and assorted drinks worth N8,800.
Eze said that the offences committed by the accused contravened Sections 306 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused was sentenced to nine and a half months on each count charge without an option of fine.
