Progressives Congress (APC) in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr Emeka Wobo Mbata, has called on Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the party leadership and the people of Evo Kingdom to support the chairman of the local government Caretaker Committee, Dr Lawrence Chuku’s bid for the council chairmanship position come 2015.
Mbata who made the call in an interview in Port Harcourt, said the CTC chairman was the best material that would defeat the rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the polls.
According to him, Chuku was the most qualified chairmanship aspirant on the platform of APC in his Evo Kingdom and urged both the people of the area and the party hierarchy to give him a chance to run for the chairmanship position.
Mr Mbata, also a Senior Special Assistant to the OBALGA CTC chairman on Empowerment, said Chuku though qualified to take a shot at the House of Representatives decided to contest the council chairmanship election to serve his people at the grassroots, primarily because of the zoning arrangement of the party.
In spite of lean resources at the council, he said the CTC chairman was able to deliver on the dividends of democracy to the people, particularly in the area of empowerment.
He, therefore, appealed to the people of the local government to toe  the path of change and identify with he wind of change sweeping across the state.
“We must tell them that this is the time of change. We must continue to conscience and sensitise them to partner with the state to bring about a better change for the local government”, he said.
