Bushorun said the opening of the sanctuary which  took place  at the weekend in Lagos was in keeping  with the ongoing greenery programme embarked upon by the  state government.
He said the project was aimed at providing the city with recreational green space that hosts a number of mature palm trees and some of the  last remnants of rare woodwork.
According to the founder of LUFASI Dr. Desmond Majekodunmi, the park was also designed to be a home base for the ongoing development that would be world class animal hospital, dog  kennels and horse rescue centre  amongst others.
Majekodunmi who is an environmentalist said the 25-hectare  urban forest is deducated to the protection of some rare species of plants and animals.
“We have worked for some years now to protect the place and develop it as a Nature Park for the preservation of nature,” he said.
He further explained that the park was also home to some rare species  of birds notably  the bald vulture.
The LUFASI boss added that the project has earmarked a large portion of land for a children’s park to enable  them interact with nature.
The park is now open to  the public and  school groups, families and lovers of nature  are expected to visit at festive seasons
