FIFA Doubles Prize Money For Women W/Cup

The prize money for
winning the 2015 Women’s World Cup will double from the previous tournament, Fifa has announced.
The winners will receive $2m (approx £1,280,000) compared to the $1m won by Japan in 2011.
A total of $15m will be on offer for the tournament in Canada, which runs from 6 June to 5 July, up from $10m four years ago.
The 2014 men’s World Cup offered $576m, with $35m to winners Germany.
A recent report by The Tide source found that 30% of sports reward men more highly than women.
England will open their tournament against France in Moncton on 9 June, and will also play against Colombia and Mexico in Group F.
